WELCOME:  Our 6th Annual Stars Dance For The Arts  (SDFA) promises to be the best ever, wrapping up an exciting year celebrating the Art Center's 50th anniversary! Be ready for a star-studded, action-packed event hosted by Vickie Robinson and Wells Gulledge. Your 2018 SDFA event features superstar couples dancing their way into your hearts to generously raise funds for Kinston’s Community Council for the Arts. Each couple will perform an exciting and expertly choreographed dance for your entertainment in hopes of becoming the 2018 champions of Stars Dance For The Arts!

MEET TEAM 2 -- Carmon Jones & Chris Humphrey

                                                   Carmon Jones
                                                   Dance Training: “I grew up taking tap, ballet, jazz, acrobatics and baton.”

                                                   Education and Work Experience: Carmon is a graduate of graduate of the University
                                                   of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is an Allstate Agent/ Owner of Carmon Jones

                                                   Background & Interests: Carmon grew up in Burlington, North Carolina, and moved
                                                   to Raleigh after college. She then moved to Kinston and married her husband, 2015
                                                   Stars Dance for the Arts Winner, Jeremy Jones. She does not necessarily have a favorite travel destination, but says she always likes visiting places where she has never been. She is a former Lenoir/ Greene Partnership for Children Board member and is currently a member of: Rotary Club of Kinston, Young Professionals of Lenoir County (Past Chair), Lenoir County Education Foundation Golf Team Committee, Miss Kinston Committee, and Mother’s Committee and Kindergarten Grade Mother at Arendell Parrott Academy. She is a Chamber of Commerce Member and the 2015 Ambassador of the Year and is a Kinston Free Press “20 Under 40” Recipient. In Carmon’s spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Carmon explains, “I would say that my greatest accomplishment to date has been opening my Allstate Agency and as a scratch agent, being #1 in North Carolina for Allstate Financial Services for my agency size during my 1st year of business.”

Family: Carmon has been married to Kinston native Jeremy Jones since 2010 and has “a wonderful daughter” Lilly Claire, who is a student at Arendell Parrott Academy.

What does Carmon like about Lenoir Country? “There are so many wonderful things about Kinston & Lenoir County. One of my favorite things is the sense of community. I love the fact that people genuinely care about what’s going on with fellow citizens, their families and their businesses. I also love the fact that our community continuously comes together to support local causes and to find ways to grow together to make Kinston & Lenoir County a better place to live, work and play!”

What is Carmon looking forward to by participating in this event? “I am looking forward to participating in the event because it’s a great way to not only raise much needed funds for the Community Council for the Arts, but also to raise awareness of how much the arts really do impact the daily lives of everyone in our area.”

                                                     Chris Humphrey 
                                                     Dance Training: Has participated in Dad’s Dance routine at Dance, Etc for several

                                                     Education and Work Experience: Chris graduated from South Lenoir High School
                                                     and has an AA degree from Lenoir Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree
                                                     from University North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is an Allstate Insurance Agency
                                                     owner with locations in Kinston and Goldsboro.

                                                     Background & Interests: Chris has lived in Kinston/ Lenoir County most of his life. He is a Tar Heel sports enthusiast and enjoys boating and traveling, especially to the Western part of the United States, Caribbean, and Europe. Chris is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, Lenoir Community College Board of Trustees, Lenoir Community College Education Foundation, Kinston Rotary Club, Kinston/ Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce, and Co-Chair Friends of Scouting/ Caswell District. He is also a former Lenoir County Commissioner and a former member of La Grange Town Council. Chris sites his greatest accomplishment, to date, was earning Eagle Scout rank and watching his daughters “grow into smart, active and involved young ladies.”

Family: Chris has two daughters, Bailey, a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill, and Courtney, a 7th Grader at Frink Middle School

What does Chris like about Lenoir Country? “The people, the renewed enthusiasm of the potential for growth.”

What is Chris looking forward to by participating in this event? “I am looking forward to rekindling old relationships, helping the CCA raise funds, and having a good time while giving back to a community that has been so good to myself and many of its citizens.”
