Promoting the Arts:  Stars Dance for the Arts

January 20, 2018
Doors open 6:30 p.m.

THANK YOU to all our dancers for participating in our 6th Annual Stars Dance For The Arts  (SDFA)! It was a star-studded, action-packed event hosted by Vickie Robinson and Wells Gulledge. SDFA 2018 featured superstar couples dancing to generously raise funds for Kinston’s Community Council for the Arts. Each couple performed an exciting and expertly choreographed dance. We appreciate the participation of these dancers and for their support!

Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, and degrees from East Carolina University
with a BSN and University of North Carolina at Wilmington with an MSN. She is a

Background & Interests: Dana has lived in Raleigh, Greenville and Wilmington and has loved everywhere she has lived, but is happy to call Lenoir County home and declares, “Nothing compares to LaGrange!” Her favorite travel destination is hiking in the mountains with her family. Dana is a member of the worship team at 902 Church and, along with her husband, Jason, helps lead a weekly life-group. She enjoys reading, playing music, learning to play the guitar, and spending time with family. When asked her greatest accomplishment to date, Dana says her daughters.

Family: Dana is married to her high school sweetheart, Jason Wade. Together they have two daughters, Spencer and Mollie Jean.

What does Dana like about Lenoir County? “The passion – we all have to continue to improve and grow our community, coming together in times of need.”

What is Dana looking forward to by participating in this event? “I’m looking forward to helping CCA and giving back to the community.”

                                                                    Ty Eason

Dance Training: “Although never dancing competitively, I have had some
previous dance experience in my work with NC Junior Cotillion, learning and
teaching ballroom and line-dancing to students in fifth through eighth grades.”

Education and Work Experience: Ty is a graduate of South Lenoir High
school, a former baseball player and graduate of Lenoir Community College,
and an East Carolina University Alumni (B.A. Psychology, M.A/C.A.S. School
Psychology). Currently, he is working with the Lenoir County Public School System as a School Psychologist, mainly in the pre-school division helping students, teachers, and parents to identify learning disabilities, developmental delays, and complications related to Autism. While at ECU, Ty worked as a graduate assistant helping Psychology students with advising needs, assisted professors in planning curriculum guides for the Construction Management Program, and also tutored/coordinated study hall hours for ECU student-athletes.

Background & Interests: Ty lived in Greenville, NC, while enrolled in school at ECU. “Although a loyal Lenoir County boy, Greenville still holds a special place in my heart, especially on football game-days and during close friends’ special events.” He is a member of the Lenoir County Rotaract Club, a Junior Director for NC Junior Cotillion with Mrs. Ann Cherry, and a Volunteer Coach with the American Legion Post 43 Summer Baseball team. His hobbies include watching sports, participating in golf and softball tournaments around the area, listening to live music, and playing trivia when he gets the opportunity. Ty says, “To date, my greatest accomplishment would have to be successfully defending my thesis and obtaining my Master’s Degree from ECU, because it has allowed me to be in the position that I currently hold within Lenoir County Public Schools and make an impact on the lives of children and their families getting the services that they deserve.”

Family: Ty’s parents are Amy and Troy (both school employees), and he has a “little sister”, Callie.

What does Ty like about Lenoir County? “I am excited that my journey has lead me back home to Lenoir County, and that I am given the opportunity to be a positive role model for children within our school system, as well as being an advocate for mental health and children with disabilities.”

What is Ty looking forward to by participating in this event? “By participating in this event, I am looking forward to further develop my dancing skills, while also being involved in something fun for the Kinston community.”
